High Bridge
for string orchestra
Program:
High Bridge was written for Longwood University and their newly-formed orchestra program. As a young high schooler growing up in southern Virginia, this college stood as a beacon of culture and artistry throughout my youth. My first ever world premiere was on the Longwood stage! Naturally it was touching return "home" to this campus, in order to compose this piece for youth string orchestra.
I chose the name High Bridge to commemorate a Virginia State Park located in Farmville, VA, near the school's campus. This park is very close to my hometown and was a favorite hang-out spot of mine growing up, so it was also very meaningful to be able to pay homage to it in this work.
