SpellCaster is an extremely unique work that blends theater and concert music. The piece utilizes a solo actor, who takes the stage to lead the audience through a lesson in magic-making. The work is divided into 10 short movements, or "demonstrations," in which the ensemble acts as sorcerer's apprentices. The music is meant to be memorized, and the players get to collaborate on choreography and staging in order to best frame each movement.
